Information for Residents

Traffic around Ashton Court Estate is expected to be heavier than usual during the Balloon Fiesta weekend, particularly on Saturday 13th August 2016.  We suggest that travel is kept to a minimum and essential journeys during afternoons and evenings (particularly on the Nightglow evenings, Thursday 11th and Saturday 13th August 2016).

A number of road closures will be put in place around Ashton Court every evening during the Balloon Fiesta.  The closures are placed in a number of phases from 7.00pm.  Organisers will lift the closures as soon as possible to minimise disruption.  Emergency vehicles will be permitted normal access through road closures to residents properties when dealing with an emergency response.

Details of the road closures can be found in the following document.  Red lines designate closed roads whilst yellow lines designate diversion routes.

Clifton Suspension Bridge

The Clifton Suspension Bridge will be closed on Thursday 11th and Saturday 13th August 2016 from 6pm until Midnight to all pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles. Specific arrangements for local communities are as follows:

Bower Ashton
Closures will be in place daily from 7pm until Midnight.  Kennel Lodge Road is closed for the entire weekend and the one way on Parkland Road will be reversed to provide easier access for residents.  All residents should use their BA Resident Parking Scheme permits to gain access through road closures.  Visitor Parking Permits (without the date highlighted) can be provided to visitors and guests for the Fiesta weekend.  Those properties not part of the Residents Parking Scheme have been provided with Visitor Parking Permits for the weekend.

No waiting cones will be placed within the RPZ to re-enforce the no parking message to the public, Resident Permits are still allowed to park within areas with no waiting cones placed.

During closure times, residents should gain access via the Bower Ashton roundabout, rather than attempting access down Rownham Hill, which is not possible.  Travel in and out during the closure times should be kept to a minimum, where possible.

Leigh Woods
Closures will be in place daily from 7pm until Midnight.  Resident Access passes have been distributed to each property in the area.  Should you require more parking passes please email info@bristolballoonfiesta.co.uk.  Residents should access the area during the closure times from the Beggar Bush/Abbots Leigh Road traffic lights.

Longwood Lane/Clevedon Road
Closures and a one way system along Clevedon Road are in place daily from 7pm until Midnight.  Resident Access passes have been distributed to each property in the area.  Should you require more parking passes please email info@bristolballoonfiesta.co.uk.  Residents should access the area during the closure times via the Beggar Bush Lane entrance to Longwood Lane.

Long Ashton
Residents living on Long Ashton Road with no off street parking can apply for a Residents Parking Permit from the Fiesta office, by emailing info@bristolballoonfiesta.co.uk, or calling 0117 904 6509.  These permits provide access, on a first come, first served basis, to the temporary Residents Parking Zone along Long Ashton Road.  No waiting cones will be placed along Long Ashton Road to ensure traffic continues to flow through the village.

All Long Ashton residents requiring access to Bristol between 7pm and midnight, daily, should travel west along Long Ashton/Weston Road and join the A370 at the Barrow Gurney/B3130 junction.
