A message from the Flight Director
To balloon entrants and pilots in the ASTRA Bristol International Balloon Fiesta
Dear All
The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is approaching its 32nd annual event and our aim is to make the Fiesta, above all, fun for balloonists, although it is also a lot more than that to the people and business community of Bristol and beyond.
To that end we have eased the requirement for pilots’ hours, to make life easier for entrants, although some must remain. The new requirements are:
To enter the Fiesta, pilots must have
(a) if less than 25 hours total P1 time, at least 10 P1 hours in 2010, or
(b) if between 25 and 100 hours total P1 time, at least 5 P1 hours in 2010, or
(c) if 100 hours or more, at least five flights of not less than five minutes duration in the preceding thirteen months, or have passed a PPL GFT.
To simplify and speed up registration, balloon entrants and pilots will each be asked to sign a simple declaration that their various papers are in order. There will be a separate form for the balloon and for each pilot who may fly at the Fiesta. It is important to bring all original documents with you as random checks may still be made and CAA (who are usually present) may wish to see them.
Entrance passes will be sent to you nearer to the event. Briefing notes, meal vouchers and all other information will be ready for you at registration.
We look forward to seeing you in the air over Bristol once again.
Best regards
Don Cameron
Flight Director.
